How to Use and Get the Most out of Your Mud Mask in 2023

How to Use a Mud Mask in 2023

So you’re thinking about using a mud mask and wondering the best way to do it. Here we want to talk a little bit about how to get the most out of that mud mask!

Mud masks are excellent for calming the skin. Mud has both a purifying and a calming effect. Our mud masks also include green tea extract, which is widely known as an antioxidant and purifier. The combination of Kaolin clay and bentonite clay are great at helping to remove impurities, and opening pores.

If you’re fighting blackheads, white heads, pimples, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, dermatitis, or simply wanting to look your best, these tips are sure to help you get the most out of your quick cleansing sessions!

Start with Warm Water
To start, I always recommend that you run your water warm to hot. Once you have nice warm water to work with, you can wash your face or use a hot cloth to steam your face. Simply put a warm cloth over your face for a little bit or wipe your face with the warm water to begin to open your pores and warm up your skin. This feels good, but it also helps the mud mask work better.
Dry Your Face
While you can apply the mask to a wet face or other body part, mud sticks better to dry skin.  I suggest you dry your face, and apply the mud mask with your fingers or a brush.  If you are using a brush, pick a large brush that allows you to  apply an even layer of mud mask all over the face. Avoid your lips and eyes, is using about 1/ quarter to a half inches of space around them so you don’t get any in your mouth or in your eyes.

How Long to Leave the Mud Mask On
You can wait until the mask dries, or simply waited 30 seconds to five minutes. Some days you have more time than others! Once you’re ready to take the mask off, simply run your warm water again, and use your hands to rinse your face off.

Another good option is to use a warm cloth. Run some fresh warm water on to your cloth and wipe the mask off. A really soft cloth is nice at this point!

After the Mud Mask
Our masks are hydrating, so you may not need anything on your skin after you cleanse.  If you feel dry, you can follow with a toning oil or cream. For the face, we recommend the ibodycare Retinol and Collagen Face Cream with Hyaluronic Acid. For the body, we suggest our Lavender Lotion or Cocoa+Shea Butter Body Balm.
When to Use a Mud Mask
You can use a mud mask in the morning or evening or anytime of day. It’s a great way to ensure you have all the make up off, or to prepare for a make up session and make sure your skin is clean and pure.
